Up from slavery,an autobiography of Booker T.Washington

I`ve been reading a book about the days of slavery ; it`s from an autobiography of Booker T.Washington , who was born a slave . The book also tells the story of major American events in the second half of the 1800s.Washington described his owner`s virginia plantation during the civil war (1861-1865),giving us a slave`s view of the conflict.Washington and other ex-slaves struggled for an education , adequate wages , and respectful treatment .
In my opinion , this story is very meaningful to read and had been recorded as part of history .The purchase of a slave was noted in the same way as the purchase of a horse or cow .They had to suffer on the ships that brought them from Africa to America ; just as the cabin `s poor construction caused them to suffer from heat in the summer . Some of the slaves were seventy or eighty years old ; their best ways were gone . And they really desire the freedom for their lives .

As a kid in school we heard about Booker T. Washington, who was famous for being an inventor even though he began life as a slave. His life proved, to anyone who would look, that blacks were certainly equal to whites. Unfortunately, many people still haven't learned that lesson!
