tender is the night (by Minh) chapter 1-7 (105-141) book 2

Last week, I had finished book 1 of the novel with some interesting event I found. Now , I am going to tell u about the book 2.
in the beginning of this book, concluding is chapter 1-7 , is almost tell about the history of Dick Diver who had fallen love with Rosemary in the first book. Dick had come to Yale, been a Rhodes Scholar, to study psychology. He lived alone in Vienna studying and researching for a book which he planned to write. the same time, the war began. in 1917, he came to Zurich to complete his degree. Moreover, America joined the world war. So the story just tell about his return to Zurich in 1919.
First, in these chapter, the novel told me about how he met Nicole. As we knew, Dick and Nicole Warren has a love in the first chapter. In the first time they met, Nicole has taken a licking to Dick. And after that, they send to another many letters in about 8 months when Dick is in France. The first letters show an unsound mind of Nicole but she begins to improve.
Dr. Gregory -Franz Gregorovius- who is Dick's friend then tells about the story of Nicole's illness. Mr. Devereux Warren, a rich man from Chicago, had decide his daughter -Nicole- into the clinic, explaining that she had some problems with her mind. Then Mr. Warren narrated that after his wife died, he had spent a great deal of time with Nicole. Dr.Dohmler said that is the incestuous father home to Chicago.
Finally, Dr.Gregory explains that Nicole's condition had improved almost and she just use Dick as a instrumental thing to improve. After that, they think Dick should treat her gently. Dick meets her and they spend a night to talk and listen some music. And Dick lets her down gently. although Nicole is upset, but not devastated.

In my opinion in these chapter, I think I can understand what Dick feel when Nicole use him to improve her condition. That's terrible and not fair. But I like his way to let her down. Very gently I think. I like it so much. But I just got form these chapter is about "the incestuous father home". I haven't never heard about that before. In Vietnam, it's so terrible and society can't accept it. That's all for my opinion in these chapter. I hope novel will give me more info or lession in next chapters
