“Making the Grade”, the story of this article describe how is a mom affect her children’s life by started grading author’s notes. The author was not really like her mom during her childhood life. She thought her mom was put everything too straight on her, and she was always wanted to be adult at that period time. The mom in this essay for me is very cool and special because her life experience was full of adventures. First, she was taught in an elementary school at U.S military base in Turkey. Then, after the author’s father retired from Air Force, her mother went out and take care everything for this family. The author’s mom also graduated from one of the top Universities in the States, Howard. I think that is why the way she taught her daughter is so calm. She never spoiled the author, but still full of support in certain ways. Like what she did for helping her daughter decided the current job.

A Mixed Blessing

After I had read this article, I feel very sorry about the author. As a child who was only sixteen and lost her mother who was her only loved relative in the world. It is really hard for not only the author, but also for everyone. Even tough, the author’s mother died in the very early age. The memories of her mother, according to this essay have been berried very deep into her heart. The author’s mom has been traveled a lot. She had has lived in Trinidad, Florence, Italy, Egypt, and Switzerland. I think that is why she always knows how to deal with her life. She always teach author think out of box, and let her know new ideas is very important. She also taught her daughter how to be nice during the party, and how to use those confusing knives and forks on a dinner table. The love she showed to author was need and deep.

My Opinion-
These two chapters gave me two different views of loves from mother. First mom is a very educational mother, and the way she shows her love to her kids is like a teacher teaches her students. From the story of “checking the grammar of her notes” is the good example to show it. For the second one, I feel sad for me while I was reading it. Mother’s love is can be deep as ocean and wide as sky. No one could forget easily, even the mom only done one simple thing for their kids. For me, I was always think my mom is ignoring, for she likes tell me what should I do and not to do all the time. I didn’t pay attention on those at the first. However, right now I am living away from her, I feel like I am kind of missing her words a little bit. I miss my mom very much. Also my dad.
