Charlotte's Web by E.B.WHITE. Pages144-184 THE END

In the next morning, the blue tag was on the other pig. It was not Wilbur, but the other pig has won first prize. While everybody was crying, one announcement was made that Wilbur got a special award! While everybody was happy, Charlotte’s heart was not beating as strongly as usual and she felt old, but she was sure that she had saved Wilbur’s life, and she felt peaceful and contented. She was too tired to go back home. Wilbur decided to bring back the egg sac which she made. He looked up Charlotte and gave her a wink, and she whispered “Good-bye”. She knew he said good-bye in the only way he could do, also the egg sac was safe. The Fair has finished. Charlotte never moved again. She died alone on the tree which was located in the Fair.
All winter Wilbur watched over Charlotte’s egg sac as he was guarding his own child. Spring came again. A lot of spiders which just like Charlotte crawled from the sac. However, all of them except 3 spiders have gone to somewhere to find the place to live themselves. Fern did not come that often as she was grown up. However, he was never without friends. Charlotte’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren always lived near him. He was never killed and nobody forgot the year of his triumph and miracle of the web. Wilber never forgot Charlotte. None of the new spiders ever quite took her place in his heart. It is not often the someone comes along who is a true friend and a good writer. Charlotte was both.

This is a beautiful story. Wilbur and Charlotte are really true friends I think. After reading the book, I was not that sad even though Charlotte died because I was impressed by their friendship. However, it is pity that nobody knew that the grey spider, Charlotte, had played the most important part of all. She saved one life with scarified herself.
I’m glad that now I have my favorite book that I can recommend. I would like to not only read this book, but also watch this movie!

It's what I would call a bittersweet ending to the book -- both sad and sweet. It's good that the writer doesn't ignore the fact of death; we all have to learn to accept death, after all! The writer shows that death is natural, and although it is sad, life goes on, and the dead remain in our memories.
