perfume Perfume-patrick suskind Part 1. 3- 18
The story was about a man, who had gifted and abominable personages. His name was Jean-Baptiste Grenoulle. He was born at Parisian fish market, where you couldn't image how many stank it had. The stank of rat, fish head, spoiled cabbage, greasy sheets etc. Grenoulle's mother, her sense of smell had been utterly dulled, she wanted the pain of her belly to stop. Grenoulle was her fifth child, but his mother didn't plan raise him, she wanted to leave him to death, just the other four children, who had been stillbirths or semi-stillbirths. After she gave birth, she cut the newborn child's umbilical cord with her butcher knife and left him under the gutting table. However, the child wasn't death, He cried out, everybody pulled him out and arrested his mother. The woman confessed, and was decapitated. As the law, the child was given to the wet nurse to take care of him, but no one kept him more than a couple of days. People had to give him to a church where he was baptized with the name Jean-Baptiste Grenoulle, then he was given to a wet nurse named Jeanne Bussie, his last wet nurse. This woman realized that, he drank more milk then the other child and didn't smell at all, she thought he was possessed by the devil so she gave him back to the church. Father Terrier, who took him, first think Grenoulle was a cute little baby (that was when he was still sleeping) and even imaged he was the father of the child, not a monk and had a wife with a happy normal life. But when Grenoulle woke up, his nose woke up first and sniffed. While his eyes were looking somewhere, his nose sniffed, and Father Terrier felt that the child was smelling him, right through his skin, into his innards. He felt naked, ugly and sick in his stomach, no more happy feeling about father, child. He even wanted to call him 'devil' if he didn't catch himself. Father Terrier took him far away, where nobody would give him back again. He took him to Madame Gaillard, who took care of every child in every ages with a right price, That was where Grenoulle could grow up.

I hope you like this book - it's supposed to be very good, but also very creepy! Good for around Halloween!
